Brooks Institute has developed a study abroad program to meet the needs of students who wanted to study fashion photography and the history of photography where it all started – in Paris, France.
In the summer of 2012, Brooks Institute students, two Brooks faculty members and four Brooks alumni created a sense of a real professional working reality for nine weeks in Paris, working with fashion models, makeup artists, and stylists. In 2013 again Brooks offered the program and it is scheduled for 2014.
Studying and photographing in one of the fashion capitals of the world enabled students to create work paralleling their contemporary peers. With Paris at their doorstep, inspirational visits to the Musée du Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, and the Pompidou were just a few of the journeys the group experienced while living in Paris. The opportunity to live and breathe Paris, its art, its history and its culture now echoes throughout the lives and work of the students.
