Tim Meyer earned his BA in Communication from California State University Fullerton in 1984, a MA in Art (Design) from California State University Fullerton in 1987, and an MFA in Photography from Brooks Institute in 2010. He also has earned certifications and other designations from the Professional Photographers of America.
With over 30 years of experience, Tim has been internationally recognized and is well respected for his craftsman-level technique and always-evolving innovative style. He maintains a commission-based, nationally acclaimed portrait and wedding studio, Meyer Photography.
Tim began teaching at Brooks Institute in 2004 as a full-time instructor with expertise in portrait photography (weddings, family, children and individual portraiture), marketing and creative portrait lighting. In addition to Brooks Institute, Tim teaches nationally and internationally, most notably for the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), Wedding Portrait Photographers International (WPPI), Photokina (Germany), and Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers (England), among others. He also teaches annually for West Coast School (Professional Photographers of California).
His book “The Portrait – Understanding Portrait Photography,” co-written with Glenn Rand and published by Rocky Nook, Inc., is available worldwide in English, German and Chinese. Tim is active in professional organizations in leadership positions.
