Program Chair for the MFA in Photography
Marcia Rubenstein earned her AB in Art from UC Berkeley in 1973 and a MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Painting in 1977. Marcia has been an educator in the photographic field for nearly 25 years at Brooks Institute and is currently the Program Chair for the MFA in Photography, teaching advanced seminar courses and guiding graduate students through their culminating exhibitions.
With a background in painting, she began teaching traditional color photographic printing while working with photographic artists to develop their print portfolios. As technology changed, she transitioned into digital image production. For over a decade, she taught Photoshop.
Assuming various leadership positions throughout her career, Marcia has served as a leader in the development of new curriculum reflecting changing industry standards. In addition to her contributions to Brooks Institute, she has served as president of the Photo Imaging Education Association (PIEA), an educational organization.
