Brooks Institute’s Holiday Image Sale Brings Outstanding Art to Public

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - (December 6, 2007) - Members of the greater Santa Barbara community can own original photographs and graphic design prints of up-and-coming professionals through the 4th Annual Brooks Institute Holiday Image Sale beginning December 6th at the school’s Cota Street campus. The event makes excellent student work available to the general public during the holiday season.

Last year the show and sale included more than 100 items available for purchase. The show’s selection jury includes two prominent Brooks Institute faculty members, Chris Broughton and Nick Dekker. Their participation will insure the highest quality student work goes on display.

The images, including photography and graphic design work from programs in the school’s wide-ranging visual curriculum, will range in size from 5x7 inches up to 11x14 inches. Framed and or unframed work will be displayed. All the images will be matted.

The students will determine the cost of their individual pictures. Prices will range from $50 for the smallest unframed work up to $275 for the largest framed images. The full purchase price goes to the student artist.

Starting November 24 the images will be displayed on the walls of the Brooks Institute Cota campus at 27 E.Cota Street in downtown Santa Barbara. Actual purchases can be made beginning with an opening reception on Thursday, December 6 from 5 pm to 8 p.m. and until the closing date of January 8, 2008. This reception is part of the 1st Thursday Art Walk, a walking tour of select downtown Santa Barbara galleries. Sales will be handled through the bookstore on the first floor of the building.
