Ventura ArtWalk Adds Brooks Institute After Hours Activities

Santa Barbara, California - (October 22, 2007) - Brooks Institute will be the highlight of an after party and late night movie screenings at the Ventura ArtWalk Saturday, November 3. Both activities are new additions to the annual self-guided studio and gallery tour which runs from 1 pm to 12 midnight.

ArtWalk incorporates ten city blocks of the Ventura historic district. More than 70 locations will show the work of 150 regional artists in galleries, studios and "gallery-for-a-day" sites including restaurants and businesses.

Teaming up with the Crowe Plaza Hotel Brooks Institute is sponsoring the ArtWalk After Party in the hotel’s Aqua Bar from 7-10 pm. From 7-8:30 pm two 42" plasma screens will show music video, nature, and commercial work from Brooks Institute students. From 8:30-10 pm there will be live music. The Crowne Plaza Hotel is located at 450 Harbor Blvd.

For the serious night owls, a program of juried short films will run from 10 pm to midnight at the Century Theater at 555 Main Street in downtown Ventura. These narrative portfolio films include award winning festival films and were selected by a panel of film industry professionals. Seating is limited but free tickets are available during the day at the ArtWalk Information Booth downtown at Main and California Streets and at the hotel After Party.

The ArtWalk events are free and will include musical events throughout the day as well as activities for children. For those events beyond walking distance a free shuttle will operate from the event’s information booth.

Additional ArtWalk information is available from Robin Elander at 805-658-4760 or via e-mail at relander@ci.ventura.ca.us.
