BROOKS INSTITUTE STUDENTS & ALUMNI CHOSEN TO ATTEND THE EXCLUSIVE EDDIE ADAMS WORKSHOP

SANTA BARBARA & VENTURA, Calif. – (June 19, 2008) – Brooks Institute announces that seven of its students and alumni from the visual programs were chosen to attend the elite Eddie Adams Workshop in Jeffersonville, New York, on October 10-13, 2008. Brooks’ seven workshop recipients were chosen from more than 1500 applications. The Eddie Adams Workshop accepts only 50 college students per year. The other 50 chosen are working professionals who have been in the field for less than three years.

The Eddie Adams Workshop is an intense four-day gathering of the top professionals in photojournalism, along with 100 carefully selected students. The Workshop's purpose is to create a forum in which an exchange of ideas, techniques, and philosophies can be shared between both established members and newcomers of the profession of picture journalism. Brooks Institute’s seven alumni and students attending the workshop were chosen based on the merit of their portfolios.

The Workshop Board of Directors reviews students' portfolios and recommendations. The top 100 chosen students will be divided into 10 teams of 10. A photographer, an editor and a researcher, all professionals within the profession of picture journalism, will lead each team. The four days are divided between shooting, editing, speeches and panel discussions. Students will have the opportunity for one-on-one time with editors to discuss their portfolios. Students have access to a variety of the very best in professional equipment during this workshop, including equipment by Nikon, Epson, Adobe, and Apple. This tuition-free workshop provides students the constant interaction with more than 100 of the biggest and brightest minds in photography today!
