Photographer Ricardo Rodriguez Brings [Mis]perceptions to the Visions Gallery in Ventura

Ventura, Calif. – (January 14, 2010) – Photographer Ricardo Rodríguez presents [Mis]perceptions an exhibit of photographs in which Rodríguez uses his imagery skills to shift the viewers perception of ordinary objects so that a new reality is revealed which changes the essence or meaning of the object and, in his own way, transforms the truth. This unique display will be on exhibit at the Visions Gallery in the Marriott Ventura Beach, located at 2055 E. Harbor Blvd. in Ventura, from Feb. 11 – April 7, 2010 with an artist reception from 5 – 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 11.

“I question the ordinary, finding alternate realities in every day objects. I seek to shake perceptions of reality by use of size, scale, title, and the isolation of the object from its typical presentation,” says Rodríguez.

Ricardo Rodríguez was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He studied photography at the University of Puerto Rico, where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in 2007. While he was completing his BA, he had the opportunity to have three solo exhibitions in galleries and museums. Upon graduating, he was accepted as one of the artists of Biaggi & Faure Fine Art where he still exhibits. His work has been recognized in his native Puerto Rico, as well as in the United States. Currently he is living in Ventura, California, where he is working on his Master of Fine Arts in Photography degree at Brooks Institute.
