The Book Den to host silent auction to benefit Brooks Photography students' China trip

Santa Barbara, Calif. -- September 14, 2006 -- On Sunday, September 24, from 4 to 7:30 PM, the Book Den will host a silent auction of   Brooks Institute faculty member work. All  proceeds support Brooks Institute's Visual Journalism Documentary Class trip to China this fall.  This fundraiser provides a great opportunity for the community to purchase exceptional photography while supporting young photographers to learn their craft and realize their dreams.

On November 10th, 2006, a group of seventeen students and an instructor from Brooks Institute will embark on a five-week journey to China to continue a proud tradition of excellence in documentary photography. The group will travel to the Sichuan and Chonqing provinces, observing daily life in a rapidly changing culture. Upon their return, they will create several products to showcase their work, including a multimedia Audio-Visual show, a DVD, a Web site, a print gallery show and a book.

Their photographs will be available for pre-view starting on September 20th at The Book Den, 15 East Anapamu Street, Santa Barbara.

These two images by Ryan Bowden will be among the photographs to be auctioned:
