Brooks Institute is recognized the world over for its excellence and visionary education. The Institute has student and alumni representation the world over. From Argentina to Venezuela, to South Korea and Japan to Sweden and Norway. The following are simple questions and answers to give the International Student a general overview.
Q: What is an International Student?
A: An international student is one whose country of permanent residence is not the United States.
Q: Do I need a TOEFL Score?
A: Any applicant whose native/first language is not English must evidence English language competency before acceptance may be awarded. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) must be taken and scores reported. A minimum paper-based TOEFL score of 550 or minimum computer-based TOEFL score of 213, or an internet based score of 79 is suggested for undergraduate level studies. Our code number for reporting scores is 4228.
For graduate level studies a minimum paper-based TOEFL score of 580, or a minimum computer-based score of 237, or an internet based test score of 92 is required. Our code number for reporting scores is 4228.

A: Students accepted and enrolled in the Diploma Program, Associates, Bachelors, or Masters Degree Programs will be issued form I-20 A-B which will be used to apply for their F-1 student VISA. An I-20 A-B form will also be issued for the dependents of the accepted and enrolled student.
Q: Is a Portfolio required?
A: Porfolios are not required for acceptance into the beginning-entry level courses. Please do not send portfolios by mail. The only times portfolios are reviewed are when accepted undergraduate applicants have prior experience or when making application to the graduate program. Under these conditions, a student may be eligible for Advanced Standing. Portfolio reviews for the determination of Advanced Standing are conducted in person once a student has arrived in the area.
Q: What is the purpose of a Confidential Financial Statement?
A: Proof of financial independence is required via documentation of expected sources of income during your enrollment in the program. This documentation must demonstrate sufficient financial coverage to meet the annual Tuition and Fees, Estimated Living and Supply costs for the program. A general bank statement is not sufficient unless it is accompanied by a statement of the annual amount the sponsor intends, or by the financial form provided. This information is entered on the form I-20 A-B when applying for the student visa.
Q: How do I submit my educational records?
A: Certified records of education are required showing courses taken and grades earned in secondary school and college or university, if attended. These records must be accompanied by attested English translations. A copy of a certificate is not sufficient. Brooks Institute will forward copies of official academic credentials from foreign countries to an outside agency for evaluation, which may delay a student’s final admissions determination. Any official academic credential in a language other than English must be accompanied by a certified English translation. Additional information beyond the original submission may be required before Brooks Institute can determine a student’s final admissions status.
