1. Does Brooks have student housing?
Deciding where you will live for the duration of your studies involves many important decisions. Brooks Institute recommends that you secure your housing prior to arriving at school to prevent distractions and ensure you are ready to begin your courses. Brooks Institute works in conjunction with RnR Real Estate Marketing, LLC, as well as providing resources to assist you in securing housing on your own. With either choice you need to take care of your housing well in advance.
Option 1 – RnR Real Estate Marketing, LLC
Units are available for move-in on Tuesday of prep week. RnR Real Estate Marketing, LLC, is a Dorm Style Student Housing Program that is for students that wish to live with fellow Brooks’s students. Income, credit, and housing qualifying requirements are waived providing options for any student who is unable to visit and look for housing.
If you are considering this option you must submit the application form, application fee, and deposit. Please note that RnR will not reserve housing without a paid deposit. Option 2 – Housing On Your Own
If you plan to find housing on your own, please secure your housing prior to arrival. Housing in the Ventura and Santa Barbara areas can take time to find and secure. Please note that you can expect to pay $1000. /mo for shared housing and more for single apartments in the Santa Barbara area. Brooks Institute offers assistance in resources available to help you with your search of housing. Please contact your Admissions Representative or Director of Student Management should you have any comments or questions.

3. Do I need a portfolio to apply?
Brooks Institute does not require a portfolio review for general admissions to the college. Some degrees, placement exams and classes may require a submission of a portfolio.
4. Do I need experience to apply?
No, Brooks Institute believes one of the most important qualities to becoming a visual artist, is your passion, drive and dedication. Regardless of experience, at Brooks Institute you’ll have the opportunity to use industry current equipment alongside faculty, many of whom are considered experts in their field, learning with other students who have same passion, commitment and drive as you.
5. What do I need in order to apply?
Every applicant to the Brooks Institute requires an interview with an admissions representative. During that interview we discuss your passion, your goals, and how Brooks Institute can be the best place to pursue those interests. In addition to the interview, other requirements may also include proof of High School completion with a minimum of 2.0 for consideration. Some programs and student status may have other requirements. To best determine what is required for you to apply to Brooks Institute, a conversation with an admission representative can help.
6. Do I need a SAT score or ACT score to apply?
Brooks Institute applicants are not required to submit SAT or ACT scores for consideration. Incoming enrolled students may have to take a placement exam to determine class placement, but is not used as a term of acceptance.
7. Does Brooks Institute offer Financial Aid assistance?
Yes, Brooks Institute offers student financing assistance. Financial Aid is available for those who qualify. Visit the Financial Aid section of the website for more information.
8. Does Brooks Institute offer career services assistance?
Brooks Institute has a department specifically designed to assist students in searching for employment upon graduation. Career Services is available to current students as a resource for internships and portfolio and resume preparation. Beyond that, the Career Services Office assists with graduate employment opportunities, not only after graduation, but anytime in a graduate's career. The Office assists graduates with their job search by providing information on full-time, part-time, and freelance employment opportunities that are associated with their field of study.
Additionally, the faculty and the increasing network of Brooks Institute alumni can also enhance employment prospects for graduates, and many alumni either refer employers to the Institute or recruit from Brooks Institute themselves. Career Services maintains a listing of these professional job opportunities for students about to graduate and for alumni wishing to relocate. Brooks Institute does not guarantee employment.
9. Do you provide equipment for students?
The Institute maintains equipment checkout cages at the campuses in Santa Barbara and Ventura. These locations stock necessary and industry-current equipment to meet the majority of course equipment needs beyond the normal equipment students are required to purchase for their program.
10. What degrees & programs do you offer?
Brooks Institute offers the following programs/degrees:

11. How long does it take to get a degree?
A Bachelor of Arts can take 3 years or more depending on how many credits you take per session. 159 credits are required for you to graduate.
12. Is Brooks accredited?
Yes! Brooks Institute is an accredited member of the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). ACICS is an accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education and is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). At this time, Brooks Institute is seeking to obtain regional accreditation with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Below is the approved statement we are allowed to post in publication and on our website (www.brooks.edu):
"Brooks Institute has applied for Eligibility from the Senior College Commission of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. WASC has reviewed the application and determined that Brooks Institute is eligible to proceed with an application for Candidacy for Accreditation. A determination of Eligibility is not a formal status with the Accrediting Commission, nor does it assure eventual accreditation; it is a preliminary finding that the institution is potentially accreditable and can proceed within three years of its Eligibility determination to be reviewed for Candidacy status with the Accrediting Commission.
