Travel Abroad with Brooks Institute
Brooks Institute encourages students to expand their education through active engagement in diverse cultures around the world with a variety of opportunities to travel and study abroad. Combining academic rigor with a spirit of collaboration and curiosity, these faculty-led excursions are designed to broaden students’ intellectual perspective of visual journalism, professional photography, graphic design and film while providing firsthand insight into local and global issues and cultures.
Through international and domestic travel opportunities, students can expand their education beyond the classroom to develop culminating projects based on their experiences, from short films and documentaries to books and print gallery exhibitions. In the past, students have traveled internationally to many locales including France, Vietnam, Chile, India, Ireland and China, and domestically to Hawaii, New York, Michigan, and Texas.
All students are encouraged to apply for travel abroad studies, which is an elective option in all degree programs. Students are selected for these opportunities based on criteria including cGPA, interviews, portfolio and references. Travel abroad students remain enrolled in Brooks Institute and receive academic credit while traveling. More information can be found in the Brooks Institute catalog.
